Fleet Cleaner successful pilot project

Fleet Cleaner has successfully tested its unique ship cleaning technology in Groningen Seaports. By removing fouling from the ship’s hull, fuel consumption can be significantly reduced for shipping companies.

The tests were done on barges of shipping company Royal Wagenborg. With the tests Fleet Cleaner has shown that the installation is uniquely capable of ship hull cleaning under as well as above water. Cleaning is done with high pressure waterjets, which can be adjusted in order to clean the hull without damage to the coating.

An important aspect of the operation is that all removed fouling is automatically captured, so that there is no impact on the environment. The tests were therefore also supervised by Rijkswaterstaat and Groningen Seaports.

The coming months Fleet Cleaner is preparing its innovative technology for market introduction. With the Fleet Cleaner installation it will be possible to clean ships during loading and unloading in port. Together with Royal Oosterhof Holman, these ship cleaning services will be offered to shipping companies in Dutch ports.
